Punica II

Font; gouache on bristol

Punica is an original typeface based upon a pattern I had previously created (see Punica part I). To construct each letter, I sampled from existing shapes in the pattern, highlighting key motifs to form recognizable letter forms. The name of the font, "Punica," comes from the Latin word for pomegranate and its scientific name, Punica granatum.
