A Very Normal Girl

This drawing was inspired by daugerrotype portrait photography of the 1800s. The girl’s delicately crossed arms, Peter Pan-style collar, and thin ribbon evoke youth and modesty. The neck of a swan – a bird associated with beauty and elegance but which is also known to display aggressive behavior – is surreal and disproportionate in comparison.
